"Good Luck with your new buddy Susan...May he be more than you ever dreamed and may you two have many, many happy years and special moments together...You two are a perfect match! We could not have hand picked a better companion for Rocky...We thank you! Love Lisa and Mitzi"

Dear Lisa and Mitzi,

Thank you for the pictures. (Now everybody finally believes me when I said he is broke to ride... lol.)

It is difficult to express how surprised I am with Rocky. Mind you, this is one of those "surprises" that is not simply "pleasant" but overwhelmingly joyful. Rocky is everything you said he is: calm, gentle, willing, and sensible, right down to his little hooves, (which he immediately and kindly lifts if you just practically touch them:), even in this brand new
hectic environment. The folks at his new stable here in Long Island, New York were floored by his ground manners right off the truck from his 2 day shipping ordeal from Tennessee, and I saw a look of genuine shock on people's faces here when they heard that he was only a 2 year old.  One of the long-time stable hands said she was amazed he did not need a shank to be led, "especially because he was so young" and that he immediately followed her right into the barn without any hesitation, whereas most new horses balk and fight when they first arrive, even the older, more experienced ones. The way he has handled himself in these trying circumstances has made me so proud of him, he is a true gentleman. Everyone in the stable is already in LOVE with him and thinks he is SO cute! (boy I already have to fight 'em off! :)

The stable where he resides in now in New York is VERY hectic and buzzing non-stop with activity, children, pony parties, trail rides (which is adjacent to a golf course, which is full of people whacking balls on greens), riding lessons, strange new horses and auto traffic, probably a tremendous change from his spacious, pasture home with you in Alabama. For example, I was worried about him taking to the confinement of a stall here, but no problem! He takes everything in stride. I have noticed he is very inquisitive, which I take as a sign of intelligence, and if there is anything slightly alarming in his environment, he simply pricks his ears, stops and looks, and then relaxes when you give a kind word and pat, which is take as a sign of true sensibility and trust in people. I swear he has this look of "Huh? What's that? Oh, ok. That's cool..." on his face to these new experiences. I am very aware of all the possible hazards of handling horses, and confess that many intimidate me because I never have a complete feeling of trust in them. However, though I am relatively new to all this, and Rocky is my very first horse, he is the first horse I have met that I am not one bit afraid of. Maybe I am a fool, but my goodness, he is just so good-natured through and through. At the same time, I know in my heart he is a horse I can grow with (no "deadhead" beginner horse here, just as you said!:). I think he knows he is "all that" on one hand (hoof) and yet still remains humble and respectful on the other. He is the most curious mix of good sense, spirit, willingness, well-behaved calmness and cute silliness I have ever seen in a horse.

Now, I am the kind of person who prefers to do things once and do it right the first time. You were aware that horse ownership was new to me, and being born and raised in NYC I had limited exposure to horses (though I have loved horses since as long as I could remember and tried to ride every chance I got!). I have been VERY careful in my search for that special horse (in particular, that special Tennessee Walking Horse), and you took all my concerns into consideration and answered all my (numerous) questions. I want to thank you for that and for raising Rocky the way you did, and I want to thank you for inviting me to come visit you all to see Rocky in person during the Walking Horse show in Shelbyville, TN. That was one of the most worthwhile trips I have taken in a long time and it was such a joy to meet you all.

To make a long story short, I just wanted to let you know that Rocky is that once-in-a-lifetime horse to me that I feel so lucky to have found.

Sincerely,
Susan Paik
